Temina Crafts

The imaginative Ray Sylvester runs Temina Crafts from his own wood workshop in Ilkeston. Ray describes his products as 'bloomin' clever boxes'. These are inventive, bespoke wooden boxes which are cut on a multi-level band saw, and designed with a jigsaw-style where the boxes slot together in unique ways to hide their contents.

Temima Crafts work with various types of wood to create bespoke, designed boxes. These boxes respond naturally with the type of wood used, and the natural grain and then are cut and assembles using a band saw and various vanishing and sanding processes. Company History

Ray and Kathy Sylvester established Temima Crafts in 1995 after taking early retirement from teaching. Since then they have designed, made and sold a range of products, many combining wood and textiles. Ray and Kathy sell their work at craft shows in the UK and are always exploring new ways to expand and develop their designs and processes. Temina Crafts and the 'blooming' cleaver boxes' featured in this film are created by Ray, and are inspired by the intricate patterns and nature of wood, and how this can be manipulated to create hidden designs and features of a simple box.
