Production Specifics

The risograph duplicator, creates an effect somewhere between lithography and screenprinting. Riso printing is an environmentally friendly and low cost process that uses soy based inks and banana paper masters to produce its unique print aesthetic. Workhorse are currrently able to print in any combination of Black, Blue (Pantone 3005u) & Red (Pantone Warm Red u). Their standard paper stock is A4 and A3 140gsm Cyclus Offset which is a recycled stock, but they can also print onto a variety of uncoated papers. In addition they offer a selection of print finishing such as binding and trimming. Workhorse Press are able to work with small sample runs through to large production runs and you can approach them with as little as an idea and project timeline. No previous knowledge required.

Company History

Workhorse Press was set up in 2010 whilst Dominic and Orlando were studying at Edinburgh College of Art. They started the printing service to meet the need of the art college community but now serve a variety of local, national and international clients.The print studio is based in Rhubaba, an artist run studio space in Edinburgh. Workhorse Press are passionate about helping Edinburgh's creative scene to grow and thrive.
