Production Specifics

Smith & Rodger primarily manufacture shellac and waterbased coatings from their site in Glasgow. In recent years they have increased the amount of merchanted products they sell and can now tint all lacquers to BS, RAL and Farrow & Ball shades. Typical clients are Shopfitters, Architects, Flooring Contractors, Builders, Painters, Furniture Manufacturers, Restorers and Students. There is an on-site shop, and advice can be given on correct polish to be using. Courses are also offered on occasion.

Company History

Smith & Rodger Ltd was established in 1877 by John Smith and Daniel Rodger. The factory was originally opening in the south side of Glasgow. The aim was to provide the highest quality of woodfinishes possible. The tradition was passed through the family William Rodger and onto A.D. Rodger McAslan who now sits as the company’s chairman. Today, Smith & Rodger is managed by his son, Ian A.G. McAslan.
