Production Specifics

All frames are made to order. Most frame mouldings come in 6-10ft lengths, so works outside these sizes may prove difficult. Frames are not made until we have the work in the studio, and we discuss what mount colours, wood finishes and glass types with the customer before anything is made. Most of our custom is photography, screen printing and painting, however we have framed horseshoes, tapestries, quilts and even a 5 meter long Python skin. We specialise in large frames and try not to turn anything away. Typical clients are artists, galleries, art studios and domestic customers.

Video: Make Works visits Kelvin Framers in Glasgow

Company History

We came together having worked on a few projects out with the remit of picture framing and found that we worked well together. We are both artists and were looking for a studio to share. The cost of renting was too high in our current location, so we decided to set up Kelvin Framers. In the three years we've been open, we have had a great deal of custom from the GSA and other local artists for which we are very grateful indeed.
