Production Specifics
FTS dye wool, synthetic and blended yarn to specific colours. This can range from 1kg to 1000kg. Typical clients are textile companies and designers who send in kilos of yarn for weaving and knitwear, and have it package dyed to a specific colour. There is a laboratory, which means designers can develop bespoke palettes and swatches for their collections, often on a smaller scale. Applications include hosiery, upholstery, apparel, and carpets. Company History
FTS was founded in 2008, to provide yarn package dyeing from a site on the banks of the River Esk in the Scottish Borders town of Langholm. The site was originally built in 1947 by The Langholm Dyeing Company, trading as industrial dyers until 2008. The move into FTS brought with it the traditional skills, combined with a focus on modernising yarn dyeing equipment and production methods.
