Production Specifics

Typical clients are individuals need to make historical reproductions and props. A basic understanding of the process is fine, and ideally come with budget, timeline and idea of what you want to do. Some legal restrictions on blade size/shape. I also currently have some size limitations due to forge and tempering oven. No facilities available currently, given insurance costs.

Video: Make Works visits Skye Knives on the Isle of Skye

Company History

Born on Skye, Jake learned knifemaking from his father. He became a knifemaker to use his art/craft skills to make a (small) living on the island. He developed interests in forging and metallurgy to experiment with historical blade-forms, which also suits his interests in hand-carving and using local wood/antler/bone/horn for fittings.
